To develop a set of environmental educational resources that are informative, engaging and adaptable for all ages. The project requires local research on fauna to be sourced and summarised for inclusion into a preset format.

Overview

Aims

• To develop a set of complete educational resources for immediate use in NPWS educational programs
• To develop an education resource that facilitates more interest, in-depth knowledge and understanding of fauna, in particular threatened fauna, in the northern rivers area
• To improve students and clientele attitudes and values pertaining to fauna conservation and environmental protection
• To gather, document and summarise information pertaining to the local status of species in the Northern Rivers area.

Outcomes

• An improved NPWS Education Unit resource base
• Better educational experiences for students and other clientele undertaking NPWS educational programs
• Improved environmental education outcomes
• An understanding of knowledge gaps pertaining to studies of fauna in the local area.

Needs

• NSW NPWS has a commitment to conservation of our state's biodiversity and cultural heritage
• Conservation of threatened species under the Threatened Species Conservation Act (1995)
